WOOD PRODUCTS FROM THE MUR VALLEY
Solid and residual wood products

Valuable building material
GLT
Pabst GLT is known for its homogeneous appearance – characterised by the fine-grained mountain spruce from the Mur Valley. Every year, we produce around 100,000m³ in visual and industrial quality – directly in Zeltweg

High-tech wood products up to 36 metres
GLT special components
At our Zeltweg site, we produce sophisticated timber components that meet the requirements of modern timber engineering. We manufacture individual solutions with high precision – precisely fitting and ready for assembly.

Dimensional diversity
Planed products for high demands
Pabst planed products made from spruce and larch offer precisely crafted surfaces and a wide range of dimensions for indoor and outdoor applications.

metres
High-quality sawn timber
Every year, we process around 400,000 solid cubic metres of spruce logs into high-quality sawn timber – the basis for numerous other solid wood products. The origin shares are reported on an annual basis.
Complete value creation

Energy from bark and wood chips
Wood pellets for efficient heat
At Pabst, sawdust is dried and pressed into wood pellets. Depending on the consumption assumption used, the annual production volume corresponds to the heating requirements of around 20,000 households.

Bedding made from dedusted spruce shavings
AlpenSpan for noble four-legged friends
Our dedusted wood shavings are in demand throughout Europe as first-class bedding. Internationally valued for hygiene and comfort in modern horse husbandry.
Glued laminated timber (GLT) from our plant in Zeltweg impresses with its high load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability. Thanks to industrial precision and a high level of prefabrication, it enables fast, economical assembly while maintaining an aesthetic visual quality.
We source our round timber primarily from a radius of around 100 kilometres, including the Mur and Mürz Valleys. The origin shares and average transport distances are reported on an annual basis.
Wood shavings are processed into AlpenSpan, and sawdust serves as raw material for wood pellets. Bark is used in our own biomass plants to generate process heat for drying wood.
AlpenSpan is made from dedusted spruce wood shavings. The bedding has a tested absorbency. AlpenSpan is used, among others, by the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.
Pabst holds PEFC Chain of Custody certification. Whether a specific delivery is declared as PEFC-certified can be found in the respective sales and delivery documents. Wood products contain biogenic carbon, which remains stored throughout their service life.
